The resort offer 76 guestrooms in three- to five-story pastel green buildings with lavender wood railings and louvered windows. Rooms share a common balcony or patio running the length of the building; each room has its own patio furniture. Room décor continues the classic Keys motif, with pale-green walls, metal-relief fish art, light-colored furniture, tropical-print bedspreads, and Italian-tile floors. Each room contains a compact refrigerator. Complimentary VCRs, DVD players, and microwaves are available on request.

What to expect: Located several hundred yards from the highway and a world away from anything related to work, this resort features casual tranquility, exemplified by the 5 PM "mandatory" happy hour conducted by live-aboard boaters from the marina and resort guests. The festivities are conducted at a spot furnished with charcoal barbecue grills and picnic tables and shaded by palm trees. Amenity highlights: The African Queen is displayed nearby so guests can see the rustic craft used in the movie of the same name. A sundeck with pool and spa tub overlooks the marina, as does Coconut's, a popular bar and restaurant. The hotel has a fitness center with aerobic and weight equipment, and a game room with pool, foosball, video games, and darts. The marina offers sunset cruises, deep-sea and flats fishing, water sports rentals, parasailing, snorkeling, and scuba-diving (fees apply). Insider tip: Marina Del Mar guests are permitted to use resort facilities at the Holiday Inn and the Ramada Limited, the Marina Del Mar's adjacent companion hotels. Guests also have signing privileges at the Holiday Inn's restaurants and bars.

Guests can rent marina slips for their boats, and the resort provides complimentary, secured parking for boat trailers. Hotel guests receive two complimentary admission tickets to the SunCruz casino ship offshore. Complimentary shuttle boat service to the casino ship is available at the marina adjacent to the hotel.
